What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?

CBT is an evidence-based, structured goal focused therapy. A central principle of CBT is that there is a focus on treating symptoms you are experiencing now as opposed to focusing on the past. At the beginning of treatment, time is spent developing an understanding of factors and past experiences that may have contributed to a vulnerability to develop the current problem. The focus is then on how the problem is being maintained and we seek to address this so that you are able to move forward.

The aim is to support you in understanding your difficulty and provide you with strategies to use when you are struggling so that you are able to be your own therapist and make lasting changes.

What to expect from sessions

At the beginning of treatment, the problem you are experiencing is drawn out into a cycle, drawing links between past experiences and current thoughts feelings and behaviours that you are struggling with, as sessions progress we break this cycle down and treat each area.

Sessions are one hour in length, the cost of each session is £85.
